Imbalance Prices

APG will publish indicative imbalance settlement prices for the APG control area. It is important to note that the published values are based on preliminary data. An update will be provided at a later point in time.

Calculation method

Imbalance settlement prices are calculated for negative imbalances as the maximum of the weighted average price for activated positive balancing energy from frequency restoration reserves (automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) and manual frequency restoration reserve (mFRR)), the wholesale market indicator and the scarcity price and for positive imbalances as the minimum of the weighted average price for activated negative balancing energy from frequency restoration reserves (aFRR and mFRR),the wholesale market indicator and the scarcity price.

The weighted average price for activated balancing energy considers all activations for the imbalance area APG.

The weighted average price for activated balancing energy is calculated based on an exported bids model and considers all activations for APG. In the cooperations with Germany, activations of balancing energy in Germany for Austrian demand are relevant for the Austrian imbalance settlement price while activations in Austria for German demand are not relevant for the Austrian imbalance settlement price.

NEMOs provide average prices and volumes which APG will publish for a limited period of time. APG points out that the published NEMO-data is provided for transparency reasons only and a use other than to trance imbalance prices is not permitted.

APG further points out that data provided by EPEX SPOT may only be used for an internal usage. EPEX SPOT remains owner and source of the data. A possible commercial use of the data shall be authorized by EPEX SPOT (General Conditions der EPEX SPOT).
